Benita M. Faltermier Garrett

Funeral services for Benita M. Faltermier Garrett, 51, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Eastside Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Benita was born May 26, 1961 in Oklahoma City, OK. She passed away April 14, 2013 in Gainesville.

Benita graduated from Gainesville High School in 1981. She loved being outside and visiting all of her neighbors. Benita was known as the “neighborhood leaf-raker.” Intrigued by bells, Benita had an extensive collection that she had accumulated over her lifetime. Those closest to her would frequently receive hand written cards and paintings. Benita annually competed in the Cooke County Special Olympics. She was very successful in competition, particularly in her favorite events, the shot put and 50 meter walk. Benita competed just last week in the 2013 Special Olympics. Above all, Benita treasured the time she spent with her family.

Survivors include: parents, Fran and LeRoy Faltermier of Gainesville; daughter, Sara Beth Faltermier of Gainesville; sister, Rebecca Riddels and husband, Chris of Gainesville; niece, Kaitlyn Riddels; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Benita was preceded in death by grandparents: Rufus T. and Sarah Jane Campbell, and LeRoy and Myra Faltermier, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cooke County VIPs (Special Olympics), in care of Lois Essenburg, 203 Daniel Ct, Collinsville, TX 76233.

Pallbearers will be: Paul Hamilton, Jason Carlile, Ken Essenburg, Charlie Land, Tracey Branch, and Zach Branch.
