Graveside services for Nita Tatum, 86, of Gainesville, are set for Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 11:00 am at Era Cemetery with the Rev. Milton Pledger officiating under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. No formal visitation is planned.

Nita was born on March 31, 1924 in Denison to James Walter and Frances Viola Cavin Odom. She passed away on March 7, 2011 in Denton.

She is survived by her son Emmett Tatum of Gainesville, son Ron Tatum of Gainesville, daughter Frances Russell of Collinsville, son and daughter in law Jerry and Fredda Tatum of Gainesville, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Doyce Allred of Whitesboro, and sister Mattie Lawrence Norfolk, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Tatum, son Robert Walter Tatum, sister Alma Locke, and a brother Oscar Odom.
