Joan Brown

Funeral service for Joan Brown, 74, of Gainesville, are set for Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cooke County. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


Joan was born on March 14, 1939 in Denton County to John David and Lena Marie Howard Carter. She was a homemaker and loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan loved doing activies with her family including fishing, having BBQ's and growing roses.


Joan is survived by her children: Donna Patterson and her husband David of Gainesville, Terry White of Gainesville, David Price and his wife Melissa of St. Jo and Ronda Scallon and her husband Bill of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers: Bobby Grimes and Coy Carter and his wife Brenda.

Joan was preceded in death by: her husband Richard Brown, her parents, brother Charles Leon Grimes, and a grandson Kelsey Patterson.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
