Funeral services for Barbara Jean Hadaway, 74, of Gainesville, are set for 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Bart Hadaway, son of Barbara, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the funeral home.

Barbara was born on October 26, 1938 in Colorado, Texas to Garvis Wilson and Ozelle Floreine (White) Dodd. She passed away on August 27, 2013 in Gainesville.

Barbara loved her church and church family. She taught sign language and interpreted sermons for many years. She loved being a volunteer at the church. Barbara loved her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, and she cared for many people in their homes. She also worked as an LVN at the Gainesville Memorial Hospital, where she was a great care-giver and touched many lives.

Barbara loved playing bridge and reading. Friends from Sherman and Lake Kiowa would go to bridge tournaments every chance they could.

She was an awesome mom, running the household and being involved in everything the children did, including, Camp Fire Girls, being a softball coach, and following her two sons in all of their activities. She dearly loved and cared for her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren touched her heart. The kids brought sunshine and joy to her.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Charisse and David Fuhrmann of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Bart and Kim Hadaway of Maricopa, AZ; son Brent Hadaway of Irving; 5 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Teresa Waters, and Marlonett Bergstrom; and brother Wynn Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry "Bubba" Hadaway, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County, Meals on Wheels, or the First Baptist Church of Gainesville in her name.
