Funeral services for Wayne Parkhill, 71, of Gainesville, are set for Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Flanagan officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 6:00- 8:00 p. m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Wayne passed away on April 26, 2014 at his home.

Wayne was born on December 23, 1942 in Valley View, Tx to Arthur Joe and Aurelia May Rice Parkhill.
Wayne graduated from Valley View High School and obtained an Associate of Arts Degree from Cooke County College. He then attended the University of North Texas. He retired after 35 years of service with Southwestern Bell Telephone.
Wayne was a faithful member and Deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir for many years.
Wayne loved to garden and oil paint. He taught art and won several awards for his paintings. He loved his wife of 47 years, Janice, his sons and daughters-in-law, his grandchildren, whom were his pride and joy, and his extended family.
Wayne is survived by his wife Janice of Gainesville, sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Monica Parkhill of Lindsay, Marcus and Paula Parkhill of Gainesville and Jason and Samantha Parkhill of Lindsay, grandchildren Madison, Merrick, Jenna Sue, Brody and Alyssa, which knew him as PaPa, father-in-law Bruce Nelson, sister in law and her husband Diana and Fred Eichenberger of Gainesville brothers-in-law and their spouses Richard and Connie Nelson of Granby, CO, David and Marsha Nelson of Callisburg and life long friend Gary Glen.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Jones and brothers Albert, Houston, Gene, Charles, LeRoy, Edward, and Kenneth.

Pallbearers will be Gary Glenn, Bill Moore, Charles Gibson, Bobby West, Tim Moore and Lefty Harlow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church.
