Funeral Mass for Ruth Dodson Owen, 81, of Lindsay, TX are set for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Lindsay, TX with Fr. Ken Robinson officiating. A rosary will be recited at George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Monday August 18, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with visitation to follow.
On the night of August 16, 2014 at 9:34 pm Ruth passed away peacefully by the side of her son, Harold Owen, at Muenster Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bartlesville, OK on October 30th, 1932. She was the fourth child of Ola Ruth and James Vernon Dodson. Her siblings were James Dodson, June Dodson McFee, Wilma Dodson May, and Mary Etta Dodson Heilman. She and her husband of 61 years, Eugene “Gene” Raymond Owen had three children, Paula Owen Martinez, Harold Owen (Dolly), Steven Owen (Carla) , 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Owen, Brandi and Becky Martinez, Sarah, Asher, Emily and Christa Owen and 5 great grandchildren. Ruth’s favorite hobbies were quilting, bowling and bingo. She also loved playing solitare with her deck of cards over coffee in the morning. Ruth is survived by her husband Gene, her children and grandchildren, her brother-in-law Rannie Heilman, her sisters-in-law, Nina Bardsley, Carol Owen and Henrietta (Willie) Romo. Pallbearers will be Asher, Jeremy and David Owen,Terry Heilman and Damond Sandman. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Owen, David Partain, Wayne Romo and Kenneth Romo. She will be missed greatly.
