Mrs. Borysowicz passed away at Renaissance Care Center in Gainesville on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, where she had been staying for almost 3 months.

She was born May 26, 1925 in Pohar, Poland to John and Mary Ormiak. She was a retired seamstress and commercial interior designer. She was taken from her home at the age of 13 by the Nazi regime during World War II in 1939 and was “forced labour” until the war ended. At the time, she had a younger brother who was 3 years old. As was written by her in a personal statement on a claim form for the German Forced Labour Compensation Programme this is what she wrote about her confinement: “I was taken from my home in Pohar to Dachau Concentration Camp. I stayed there until I was sent to work in a Shoe Factory – I don’t know where it was. I stayed there until I was sent to a Sawmill Factory near Pirmasens, Germany. I was the cook for the Russian prisoners-of-war who worked in the sawmill. I cooked for 126 people. I stayed there until the war ended.” Following the end of the war, she tried to locate her family several times but was never successful. She met and married Paulo Borysowicz, also a Holocaust survivor, in Germany at the Polish refugee camp. They came to the United States in 1951 with their son. They came through New Orleans, Louisiana to their destination of Presidio, Texas. They worked their way through Texas until they came to Dallas in 1953 and made that their new home.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Annalise (Lisa) and Billy Kupper of Valley View, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Stefan and MaryAnn Borysowicz of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Dio Borysowicz of Santa Rosa, California; granddaughter Jennifer Popp and her husband Andy of Lindsay; granddaughter Kimberly Stobaugh and her fiancé Brian Hess and his sons Garrett and Grant of Lindsay; granddaughter Nicole Borysowicz of New York City, New York; granddaughter Brandie Vasquez and her husband Andrew of Santa Rosa, California; grandson Casey Kupper and his wife Michelle of Colleyville; great-granddaughters Molly Stobaugh, Kaitlyn Popp, Emma Kupper and Mikayla Creekmore; great-grandsons Colton Popp, Gray Kupper, Jack Vasquez and Devon Vasquez.
