Blake Lloyd Stewart

Blake Lloyd Stewart, 56, passed away peacefully at his home in Gainesville, TX Saturday, February 28, 2015.

Blake was born on March 13, 1958, in Lehi, Utah. Blake was the son of Carl Lloyd Stewart and May LaRee Strickland. He graduated from Lehi High School where he was an active member of the FFA and won the beef cattle program award at the Utah Cattleman's Convention. He participated in high school rodeo and continued to rodeo into college where he attended Utah State University. He studied agricultural meat production and later was employed at a large meat processing facility in Draper, Utah.

Blake continued to rodeo after college and joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. He loved roping and became a successful Healer qualifying for the Wilderness Circuit Finals and winning several roping competitions including the Super Bowl Roping Championship in 1989.

Blake met the love of his life, Sharry Fullmer, in 1992. They both had a great passion for horses and in 1998 they followed their passion and moved to North Texas, AKA Horse Country USA! Blake graduated from the Oklahoma State Farrier School and worked as a professional farrier until the time of his death.

Blake is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Sharry Fullmer; his brother and sisters, Bart, Valerie, Pamela, Kristine; also, his son Brant, daughter Meagan and three grandchildren: MaClay, Field and Reed. He was preceded in death by his mother & father. Blake was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

A memorial will be held Saturday March 7, 2015, at the Gainesville chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1503 West California Street, Gainesville, TX 76240. The service will begin at 11:00 A.M.
