Dorothy D. Smith

Funeral services for Dorothy D. Smith, 88, of Gainesville are set for 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. J.L. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on December 22, 1926 in Mansfield,Louisiana to L.A. and Bessie (Duke) Dean. She passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Denton.

She and her beloved husband, Audrey Bue (A.B.) Smith were members of First Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Dorothy worked for the Cooke County Sheriff's Office for many years before being elected to Pct. 1, place 2 Justice of the Peace, a position she held from 1983 to 1994.

She is survived by her son Ron Smith and his wife Jennie of Garland; son Dean Smith of Gainesville; grandson Colby Smith and his wife Jennifer of Allen; granddaughter Jeanette Wofford and her husband Kyle of Allen; and granddaughter Angela Smayda and her husband Jay of Fort Worth; and great-grandchildren Preston Aubrey Smith, Bryce Bodin, Hayden Smayda, Ella Smayda, and Gracie Wofford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Audrey Bue (A.B.) Smith.
