A Mass of Christian Burial for Damond Henry Fuhrmann, 92, of Lindsay, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Phil Petta officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with visitation to follow.
Mr. Fuhrmann passed away May 16, 2016 in Denton.
Damond was born June 22, 1923 in Lindsay to Henry S. and Katie (Schmitz) Fuhrmann. He was raised in Lindsay and attended school there. Mr. Fuhrmann was a veteran, serving in the Navy during World War II. He married Evelyn Block on February 8, 1950 at St. Peter’s in Lindsay. The family came to operate a dairy farm in Lindsay. Mr. Fuhrmann was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Peter’s Society, and took great joy in playing dominoes. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Fuhrmann is survived by his wife Evelyn Block Fuhrmann of Lindsay; daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Maurus Hacker of Myra; son and daughter-in-law James and Judy Fuhrmann of Lindsay; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Ben Fleitman, Jr. of Muenster; daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Leo Lutkenhaus of Muenster; daughter and son-in-law JoAnn and Rudy Schumacher of Era; daughter LuElla Fuhrmann of Lindsay; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister Sr. Catherine Henry Fuhrmann, CDP of Granger; sister Lucille Hess of Muenster; sister LaVern Nortman of Lindsay; sister-in-law Beatrice “Tootsie” Kuntz of Valley View; sister-in-law Elfrieda Wagner and her husband Leo of Perry, OK; sister-in-law Alice Looney of Fort Worth; sister-in-law Irene Loerwald of Robson Ranch; sister-in-law Patty Hemmi and her husband Bill of Scotland.
Damond was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bro. Louis (William) Fuhrmann, OSB; brother Louis Fuhrmann; brother-in-law Ray Hess; brother-in-law Harold Nortman; brother-in-law Sonnie Block and his wife Anna Mae; brother-in-law John Kuntz; brother-in-law E. J. Looney; brother-in-law John Loerwald.
Mr. Fuhrmann’s grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
