Graveside services for Maurine (Kavanaugh) Watts, 83, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Mark Loewen officiating.
Mrs. Watts passed away September 23, 2016 in Plano.
Maurine was born January 2, 1933 in Hamilton, TX to Lawrence and Orena (Barnett) Kavanaugh. She was raised in Hamilton on the family farm, then moved to Fort Worth to attend Texas Wesleyan University where she received a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics. Maurine then moved to Gainesville and began work as a home extension agent for Cooke County. She then met Gene Watts and the two were married in Gainesville on September 14, 1955. The couple moved to Germany, where Gene was stationed with the Air Force. While in Germany, Mrs. Watts was able to tour Europe and gave birth to her first child, Martha. The Watts soon returned, and settled, in Gainesville where their second daughter, Mary, was born. Together, Maurine and Gene operated Watts Bros. Pharmacy and Watts Prescription Shop. Mrs. Watts loved animals, caring for many cats and dogs throughout her life.
Survivors include: daughter Mary Watts and Enrique Corbacho of San Antonio; brother Earl Kavanaugh of Hamilton; and nieces: Elaine Kavanaugh Jones of Hamilton and Michelle Moravec and husband Willie of West.
Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Gene Watts; daughter Martha Watts; nephew Stephen Kavanaugh; and sisters-in-law: Kitty Kavanaugh and Dorothy Kavanaugh.
The family wishes to thank Patsy Felton for her many decades of love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter.
