WALTER L. FANCHER

Services for Walter L. Fancher, 77, of Gainesville are set for 2 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 at Grace Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

After a long illness, Walter Fancher went home to be with his Lord on Feb. 19, 2008, at Pecan Tree Manor.

He was born Dec. 23, 1930, in Bowie to Orlin and Bertha Dover Fancher. He maried Effie Earnhart. He loved his wife, his family and his church, Grace Friendship Baptist, with a passion. He was involved in farming and ranching. For over thirty years, he owned an exterminating business.

Survivors include his wife, Effie Fancher of Gainesville; son, Walter Fancher Jr. of Carrollton; daughter, Tonia Akins of Carrollton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
