Funeral services for Joyce Malinowsky, 86, of Gainesville are set for Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 10 am in the Geo J Carroll Chapel with Ronnie Quaid and Mike Haverland officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo J Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Mrs. Malinowsky went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at her residence.
Joyce was born October 13, 1924 in Gainesville to Aubrey Joyous and Mildred Lee Greer Estes, Sr. She graduated from Gainesville High school in 1942. She married Walter Stanley Malinowsky on November 25, 1943 in Gainesville. She was employed as the secretary of the Commerce Street Church of Christ for 18 years. She was coordinator and director of AARP for five years, served as President of 9 years, and treasurer for 1 year and assisted the treasurer every year since. She was treasurer of Gainesville City Counsel, and the Ben Franklin Elementary School PTA.
Joyce received the outstanding citizen of Cooke County award in the early 90's which was presented by Rep. Ralph Hall and she was a recipient of the Gainesville Education Foundation for the class of 1942. In 2004 President Bush presented her with a gold pin in recognition of over 10,000 hours of volunteer service in Cooke County over a period of 4 years. She taught defensive driving for citizens over 55 from 1990 through 2009.
Joyce served as election Judge for the Democratic Party for 34 years and as Early Election Judge for both School and Hospital elections and served as Precinct Judge for many years. She was voted as Woman of the Year for Beta Sig Fi Sorority in 1998.
Joyce and her husband, performed as Mr. and Mrs. Clause, pleasing children at Christmas time for 45 years. They started out by sitting on their front porch and later they were asked to perform at Church and School programs. She was selected to be this years Grand Marshall for the Gainesville Christmas Parade. Joyce had many other accomplishments throughout her life and she loved every minute of it.
Joyce is survived by her Son and Daughter-in-law : Eddie and Karen Malinowsky of Melissa; Daughters and son-in-laws: Shelia and Gary Bush of Gainesville and Sherry and Gene Brown of Gainesville; Sister: Margaret Wald of Anderson, MO; Brothers: A.J. Estes Jr. of Aubrey, Robert Neal Estes and David Carroll Estes of Gainesville; Grandchildren Michelle and her husband Eddie Fuller of Gainesville, Gary and his wife Carrie Bush II of Gainesville, Timothy and his his wife Shelia Bush of Gainesville, Brent and his wife Shelly Malinowsky of Rockwall, and Ashlee and her husband Dustin Russ of Frisco; Great Grandchildren: DeForest, Walter, and Anna Fuller of Gainesville, Lainey Malinowsky of Rockwall, Brianna and Thomas Smith of Gainesville, Cassie Miller of Lewisville, Courtney Paine of Lewisville, Sammie and Melissa Paine of Gainesville, Victoria and Zackary Bush of Gainesville; and three Great Great Grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband: Walter Stanley Malinowsky and her parents A.J and Mildred Estes.
Pallbearers will be: Brent Malinowsky, Gary Bush II, DeForrest Fuller, Walter Fuller, Dustin Russ, and Eddie Fuller.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Friday November 26, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commerce Street Church of Christ. You may sign the on-line registry at www.geojcarroll.com.
