Graveside services for Joann Homer, 75, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 pm Monday October 4, 2010 at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville with Pastor Scott Sundbye officiating under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Sunday October 3, 2010 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

Joann Homer was born on May 7, 1935 in Chatfield to Luther Woodrow and Bertha Mae Griffith Heizer. She went to be with the lord on September 30, 2010 in Gainesville.

Mrs. Homer was a past District President of the P.T.A., and a lifetime member. She was also a past President of the Jaycettes. She married Jim Homer on May 22, 1953 in Gainesville. She worked along side Jim in the family business until its closing and then later becoming a realtor and broker. Joann was also an avid deer hunter.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law Mike and Debra Homer of Denton, daughter and son in law Ann and Keith Porter of Gainesville, daughter Lynn Homer of Muenster, grandchildren Shauna Ressler, Trevor Porter, Chris Porter, and Walt Porter, great grandchildren Kylie Hicks and Halie Hicks. She is also survived by her sister Doris Jean Whitlock of Arlington, brother Teddy Joe Collard of Ferris, sister Sherri Mason of Ennis, brother Donald Heizer of Benbrook, brother Dennis Heizer of White Settlement, brother Richard Heizer of Azle, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim in 2000, and a brother William Harold Collard.
