Kathleene Fellers Kelley, 88, of Gainesville, passed away on September 25, 2010 at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 20, 1921, in Tulsa, OK, to Erskine H. Fellers of Era and Lora Bell Pruett of Slidell. She graduated from Ross-Point School as class valedictorian. She married Ray D. Kelley of Prairie Point in 1942. The couple had one son Richard Ladd Kelley, before divorcing in 1946.
She worked for Monnigs Department Store in Fort Worth for many years, eventually becoming manager of the package delivery department. In 1978 she moved to Gainesville to be near her mother and worked at Weber Aircraft until retirement. A devoted daughter, she cared for her invalid mother for several years until she could no longer provide the necessary level of care. She loved fishing and caring for the home and garden she shared with her sister in Gainesville.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-father R. B. Durham Sr., and sister Geneva DeBorde. She is survived by her son Ladd of Dallas, brother R. B. (Junior) Durham and sister-in-law Sharon Durham of Rosston. Her son is appreciative of the wonderful attention by caring staff during her time at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside service and interment will be held at the Rosston Cemetery at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 28, 2010 with the Rev. Dennis King officiating. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, her son asks that contributions be made to the Texas Senior Citizen Foundation, c/o Benelle Fitts, Elder Rights Coordinator, 1100 Lawrence, Gainesville TX 76240, or to a cause of your choice.
