LEONA KOENIG ORTEGA



Graveside services for Leona Koenig Ortega, 80, of Valley View, will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 29, 2010, in the Valley View Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.



Mrs. Ortega died September 26, 2010 in Gainesville.



Leona was born January 1, 1930 in Weesatche to Carl and Regina Kircher Koenig. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dogs. She loved quilting, gardening and fishing but was particularly fond of playing bingo. She also enjoyed sitting outside and watching the birds while drinking her coffee.



Mrs. Ortega is survived by her children: Tony and Barbara Ortega of Gainesville, David Ortega of Valley View, Johnny Ortega of Valley View, Bob and Laura Ortega of Valley View, Bill Ortega of Abilene, Ruby and Noel Gonzalez of Valley View, Edward and Willa Ortega Of Valley View, Ester and Mike Manis of Winona, MO, and Jane Knighten of Gainesville. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and her sister and brother-in-law Bertha and John Priddy of Goliad and her brother and sister-in-law Alfred and Julia Koenig of Robstown.



Leona is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Antonio Ortega, and her brother Carl “Sonny” Koenig, Jr.
