DAN “DANNY” C. RICHARDSON

A memorial visitation for Dan “Danny” C. Richardson, Jr., 59, of Gainesville, will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Richardson passed away at the V.A. Hospital in Dallas on June 18, 2010. He was born in Muenster on May 30, 1951 to Dan C. and Wilma Meyer Richardson Sr. He graduated from Era High School in 1969 where he played football and baseball. He attended the University of North Texas.

Danny entered the U.S. Army in 1969, serving until 1971. During his service, he was stationed overseas at Okinawa, and then worked as a receiving clerk at Walter Reed Hospital.

On his return, he worked at the AMPI plant in Muenster. Over the years, he worked a variety of oil field related positions and as a rural postal carrier.

On Oct. 24, 1981, he married Loy Ann Koebelen at the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. In 1996, Danny was a liver transplant recipient. This blessing gave him additional precious years to be with his wife and to watch his sons grow.

Danny loved Texas Rangers baseball, sports and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed Internet Poker, Diet Cokes and Bambi, his dog.

He is survived by his wife, Loy Ann; sons, Patrick, Ryan, and Kevin of Gainesville; mother, Wilma Meyer Richardson of Prairie Point; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Grady Roller of Prairie Point, Mil and Herkie Biffle of Gainesville, Sharon and Charles Hess of Corinth and sister, Susan Richardson; brother and sister-in-law, David John and Minnie Richardson of Seoul, South Korea; mother-in-law, Velva Koebelen of Gainesville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jan and Corey Autry and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dan C. Richardson, Sr. and grandparents, John and Lyndel (Penton) Richardson and Roy T. and Anna (Barclay) Meyer.
