Marjorie Biffle French

September 25, 1922 — September 20, 2010

Marjorie Biffle French was born Marjorie Irene Biffle at Myra Hospital on 25 September 1922. She passed away Monday morning after a long, happy and useful life. Marjorie was called “Maggie” by her husband and many of her friends. She was a fourth generation Texan and grew up on her parents’ stock farm outside of Myra.

Marjorie graduated from Gainesville High School and Cooke County Junior College. During WWII she worked as a supply clerk at Camp Howze Army Base near Gainesville where she met her future husband, Roberts O. French, who passed away in 1981. They had three sons who survive her as well as two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Marjorie and her husband lived in Dallas after the war, but she could never be away from the farm for long and came every weekend for most of her life. When she finally retired in 1990, she started work on a cabin at the farm, and after years of hard work eventually turned it into a real home, where she lived the rest of her life. She loved playing bridge and was a regular at bridge tables around Cooke County.

Her last days were happy and cheerful ones, as were most of those that preceded them.

Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 Wednesday, September 22nd at the Reed Cemetery outside Myra.
