Funeral services for Mansel Ely Norris 85, of gainesville are set for Monday September 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Chapel with Tommy Hicks officating and burial to follow in the Nelson Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday September 19, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mansel went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2010.

Mansel was born on October 7, 1924 in Tioga Tx, to Florena and Stewart Norris. Mansel served in the Miltary in the 536 Amphibian Tractor Bn. in the Okinawa and Phillippine Islands. Mansel was a member of the Disabled Veterans. Mansel married Katherine " Kitty " Carter on March 20, 1949. After the Miltary Mansel owned and operated the Ware- Norris service station, then went to work for Montgomery Wards in the automotive and tire dept. retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member and song leader of the Broadway Church of Christ for over 60 years and then became a member of the Commerce Street Church of Christ.

Mansel is survived by his wife Katherine " Kitty " Norris. Virginia Bryant, sister-in-law Helen Koehler and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Johnny Norris,sister Barbara Carter and Rena Hutton. Pallbearers will be Harold Wells, Bob Cutlip, Bill Homer, Steve Herbold, Paul Lang and Charles Salisbury. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of Commerce Street Church of Christ.
