Margaret Lindsay

Margaret Lindsay passed away peacefully at Gainesville Convalescent Center on May 14, 2010. She will be remembered by many for her kind and loving smile and gentle nature. She was born in Olney, Tx on September 5, 1915 to Frank and Molly Wade. On April 20, 1935, she married the love of her life, Vernon Lindsay. They shared 60 happy years together before his passing in 1996.

After moving to Gainesville in 1949, Margaret became an active member of the First Baptist Church. She was a devoted homemaker. She was an instrumental influence on the youth of Gainesville through her volunteer efforts in GISD system in Girl Scouts, band booster and the PTA, where she received a 25 year service pen for her work.

She is survived by her son, Donald Lindsay and his wife Isabel, and her daughters Suzanne Henry and Bettye Vaughan, all of Gainesville. She had 11 grandchildren, Lisa Moore, Danny Henry, Michael Norwood, Carla McCage, Gary Henry and Shane Vaughan of Gainesville, Lauri Wolfe of Shady Shores, Brian Lindsay of Denton, Patrick Henry of Paducah, Jennifer Aslin of Marshall and Erik Vaughan serving in Afghanistan. She had 24 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon in January of 1996.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and a doting Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also known as Aunt Speedy to family and friends. She will be missed by her friends and loved ones. Through her example, she taught us all how to live and love unconditionally.

Visitation will be at George J. Carroll Funeral Home on Sunday, May 16 from 3:00 to 5:00. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 17 at 2:00 at George J. Carroll Funeral Home with the Reverend Hubert Wright officiating. Burial to follow in Fairview cemetery.
