Memorial service for Freddy Lee Simmons, 80, of Gainesville is set for Saturday January 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Geo J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Don Yeager
officiating. Freddy died Sunday January 3, 2010 at his residence.

Freddy was born in Abilene and raised in Wichita Falls, the son of Bob and Vera Simmons. Freddy "Fritz" was a star athlete and receiver for the Witchita Falls High School football team. He recieved a scholarship to the University of Texas and played one year as a defenesive back before enlisting in the Marine Corps. Freddy married Sherma Horton of Admore in 1953. They were together until her passing in 1998. Freddy movede to Gainesville in 1963 and owned Texas Perforating Company and later Kemp Supply.

Freddy is survived by his son: Brad Simmons; sister: Patsy Elmore; her daughter: Kay Stewart; niece: Lindesy; and nephew: Jason of Witchita Falls.

Freddy was preceded in death by his wife: Sherma Lee Simmons; and daughter: Carla Sue.

There is no planned visitation.
