Alice McDonald

Alice Lynn McDonald (née Peschke), aged 82, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. Born on April 19, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, Alice lived a life defined by love, faith, and devotion to her family and community. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and her presence will be more than deeply missed.

Alice was the beloved wife of Bruce McDonald for nearly 57 years. Together, they created a life rich with love, laughter and partnership, raising a close-knit family that brought her immense joy. She is survived by her children: Maren (Scott) Garza, Bruce (Noelle) McDonald Jr., Cathryn (Mike) Wells, Brian (Kara) McDonald, and Ann (Nick) Stahly. Her cherished grandchildren include Adam, Lauren, and Madalyn Garza; Jacob and Connor McDonald; Sarah and Ryan Wells; Allison, Owen, and Hannah McDonald; and Kelsie, Cruz and Edie Stahly. Alice also leaves behind her dear sisters Kathryn Krantz and Judith (Hank) Simon; along with brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and countless others whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her parents, Edna and Leonard Peschke.

Alice was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gainesville. She guided those around her with her wisdom and compassion to all who sought her counsel. Alice had the ability to push doubt out of the way and encouraged others to work hard to achieve their goals, even when obstacles were in the way. She was an active participant in the Lake Kiowa Women’s Club, where she formed lasting friendships through shared activities. Alice found great joy in playing golf and celebrating moments with her children and grandchildren.

She was a woman of grace, kindness, and unwavering character who led with integrity and believed in treating others with respect, living honestly, and always doing what was right. She loved sharing life's simple lessons with her grandchildren, teaching them everything from how to set the table and cook to the importance of being kind—even when kindness required strength.

Alice’s generosity of spirit shone through in every aspect of her life. Her laughter could light up any room, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved inspired everyone around her. She was always up for adventure and created a trail filled with so many amazing memories. A steadfast partner to Bruce and a source of strength for her family, Alice will be remembered for her grace, warmth, and boundless love.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 825 N. Weaver St., Gainesville, TX. A reception will follow in the parish hall on the church campus for friends and family. Private inurnment will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
