Anita Sue Crawford Cashon, born and raised of Gainesville Texas, passed from this life on Friday March 12, 2021 at Denton Presbyterian Hospital, Denton Texas~Recent years of health struggles contributing to her passing.
Anita Sue moved to Denton Texas to pursue the furthering of her education and to take advantage of an employment opportunity in 1970. She lived in Denton for 20 years prior to moving outside of Denton to Krum Texas, and had retained her residency there until her recent death.
A gathering by her immediate family honoring her passing and laying her to rest, took place on the afternoon Friday March 12, 2021. Son in law, Justin Holmes led the family gathering in the sharing of her life, while granddaugthers, great-granddaughter, and a son, contributed in acappella song.
Anita Sue Crawford, Crenshaw, Cashon, was born on August 10, 1942, to William Thomas (Dub) Crawford and Virginia Del Robinson Crawford of Gainesville Texas-both families long time residents of Cooke County who were farmers, ranchers, and dairymen.
Anita Sue, since a small child, had a deep love of music, dance, and creativity, and began studies of piano, ballet, and tap at the young age of 6 yrs old. She participated over her growing years in recitals, displaying those talents she so enjoyed. In high school Anita joined the high school choir, furthering her musical enjoyment participating in choral group performances, ensembles and solo competitions. She was an amazing pianist and an admirer of "all things Elvis". Elvis' music of those days shaped the tastes of so many young people, and she extended that love to her own children. Anita especially enjoyed good conversation, reading, social media, cooking, watching old movies, researching family histories and ancestry, & building computers. She as well also jewelry design and creation of jewelry pieces. A dear friend shared that Anita was the very quickest keyboardist that she had ever met in her life.
Anita was an easy to talk to friend and communicator, and enjoyed making friends easily. As a college student, she participated in a college beauty pageant, receiving the election by her piers of "Miss Congeniality". She had a kind and caring heart, and found it easy to love and root for the underdog in most any situation. She enjoyed traveling with her family as a youth and had a special love for swimming. She trained as a youth with the Red Cross and earned her Life Guard certification. Being raised on a ranch, she also had an affinity and love for animals, and loved the life often found in rural families of her day. Anita professed her faith in the true Redeemer of Israel, and enjoyed learning and studying of Him and His Word.
After graduating Gainesville High School, alongside her brother Thomas (Tom) West Crawford, in 1960, she attended Cooke County College. She graduated Cooke County with her Associates Degree in 1962, then continued her education in Denton. She moved to Denton to attend North Texas State University to further her studies in Business Administration. Prior to her move to Denton, Anita Sue worked as an Office Administrator for Farmers Home Administration, and transferred to their Denton office to serve in a similar capacity. In the following years, she worked in several vocations including restaurant management for Long John Silvers and Taco Bueno. For a number of years, Anita also operated her own mobile concessions vehicle servicing the Denton area. She also worked for a number of years for Anderson's, Denton Texas.
Anita is survived by her husband, William Michael Cashon, of Krum Texas. Daughter, V Suzen (Suzi) Crenshaw West and husband Danny West of Gainesville Texas, and sons, Warren Thomas (Tucker) Crenshaw and his wife Mechelle Crenshaw of Itasca Texas, and Schawn Michael Cashon and wife Rhonda Cashon, of Denton Texas. She is also survived by her 100 year old mother, Virginia Crawford of Itasca Texas, and her brother Tom Crawford and wife Gladys of Leon, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Lenzi Lenaye Barthold Holmes and husband Justin Holmes of Keller, Jancsi Macray West of Gainesville Texas, Dyllon Spencer of Denton Texas, and Conner and Quinn Scoggins of Denton Texas. Great Granddaugther, Savannah Wynne Holmes of Keller Texas. She also leaves behind beloved friend and adopted in love daugther, Tonya Crossland of Denton Texas, who was a dear friend and caretaker to her in these recent years.. Anita leaves a number of cherished cousins and nieces She is proceeded in death by her father, William Thomas Crawford and granddaughter Amber Crenshaw.
