Aurelia Ann Parsons, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Wesley House Assisted Living in Gainesville, Texas.
Ann, as she preferred to be called, was born on December 18, 1942 to Fanny Mae and Grady Davis in Andalusia, Alabama. She graduated from Pleasant Home High School in 1961.
She met her husband of 52 years in Iowa. They moved to Texas in 1968 and resided in Irving, Garland and Rowlett. Ann worked as a secretary and attended the University of North Texas and Texas A&M University at Commerce, earning a master’s degree in education. She taught typing and accounting at Lakeview Centennial High School and was the varsity cheerleading sponsor for many years. She continued her career with Garland ISD for many years as a systems administrator.
Ann loved to travel with friends and family. She set a goal to visit all 50 states and succeeded! She loved traveling the country with her beloved sister, Dorenda Lawson. The family enjoyed skiing in Colorado almost every Christmas. She also traveled to many European countries: England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Austria, Switzerland and many trips to Germany where she could visit her sister-in-law Ilse Davis, nephew Robert Davis and grandniece, Kimberly. Ann enjoyed a good road trip and country music with her longtime friend, Sylvia Watkins.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Garland, Texas and a proud member of the Garland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Muenster Memorial Hospital, Heart to Heart Hospice Care and Cornerstone Caregiving for their kindness, patient and loving care.
Ann is survived by her daughter Kim (Daniel) Wisian of Era, Texas, son Chris (Kelly) Parsons of Muenster, Texas; granddaughters, Skylar Parsons and Sydnee Wisian; sister Dorenda Lawson of Andalusia, Alabama; nieces Cindy Bracewell, Tammy Lee, and Susan Gilbert all of Alabama; Sister-in-law Ilsa Davis, nephew Robert Davis and grandniece, Kimberly all of Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Parsons, parents Fanny Mae and Grady Davis; brother-in-law Jenks Lawson; nephews Randy Lawson and Michael Davis.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10th from 9:30-10:30 am at George J. Carroll Funeral Home, Gainesville. A graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m., at the pavilion in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.
