Art Tolbert

Arthur Lee Tolbert, 81, of Gainesville, passed away December 24, 2023 in Denton.

Art was born September 19, 1942 in Gainesville.  During his childhood, he spent time in Fannin County and West Texas.  He married Lynnette Martin on August 9, 1963.  Art spent 38 years with Victor Equipment/Thermodyne in Denton, retiring as a supervisor.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, especially pulling their R.V. to Broken Bow, OK.  His greatest joy in life was being “Poppy” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by: wife Lynnette Tolbert; daughter Becky Vickers; son Ricky Tolbert (Erin); son Junior Tolbert (Keesha); grandchildren Lindsey Vickers (Greyson Pryor), Megan Chambers (Alex), Travis Tolbert (Ryley), Sydnee Shockley (Austin), and Savana Tolbert; great-grandchildren Kinlee and Brooklyn; sister Letha Salaz (Steve); and brother-in-law Melvin Ware.

Predeceased by: parents Hershell Lee and Nettie Marie (Roach) Tolbert; sister Cleta Ware; sister Shirley Webb; and sister Pat Moorehead.

Private service will be held at a later date.
