Whitesboro, Texas

Audra Harmon of Whitesboro, passed away on January 21, 2026 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on June 8, 1939 in Gainesville, to Zeddie W. and Edna (Fox) Kitchens.

Audra attended Gainesville public schools. She married Don W. Harmon on March 3, 1956. Among her jobs, aside from homemaking, she worked at Linda Jo Shoe Factory and Gibson’s. She co-owned and operated a ceramic shop, linen curlers, Green Stamp store.

Audra was held in high esteem in the Hunt County Foster Care Program where she cared for numerous kiddos over a ten-year period. She was very loved by the children in her care. When Facebook came in to popularity, one of her former foster daughters searched for and found Audra to tell her what a wonderful difference she had made in her life. They continued to communicate through Facebook until Alzheimer’s made it too difficult for Audra. Don and Audra often said that their experience in foster care was the “toughest job they ever loved.”
