A funeral service for Barbara Jenell Cravens, 84, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Cravens passed away in Gainesville on May 13, 2025. She was born July 18, 1940, in Tioga, to Edgar Murray and Hazel Viola (Cantrell) McGilvray.

Barbara and Kenneth Cravens were married on July 19, 1956. Together, they turned a house into a home, raising 3 children with love and affection. Barbara worked tirelessly for many years at the Lorch Dress Factory, at Gainesville Highschool teaching Life Skills Professional Development, in charge of the nursery at Temple Baptist Church, and manager of the Leonard Park Concession Stand. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by many.

Mrs. Cravens is survived by her daughter Kathy Leverett; daughter Kristy Wilson; grandchildren: Josh Leverett, Misty Leverett, Skyler Wilson, Rachel Cravens, Kevin Cravens; great-grandchildren Avery Leverett, Graham Leverett, Teagan Lindsay, Rumor Lindsay, Allison Price, Carlyn Cravens, Jaxon Cravens. She is also survived by her brother Lee McGilvray and brother Richard McGilvray.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Cravens; son Wendel Cravens; brother Melvin McGilvray; son-in-law Ronnie Leverett; son-on-law Brian Wilson.
