Her happy soul has winged its way to one pure bright eternal day.
Barbara went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2026 with her cloth doll Gearldine who has been with her for 43 years.
Barbara was born to Cecil Lee Head and Lola Fay (Cato) Head on March 17, 1939. She always enjoyed being a Saint Patrick’s Day “Kid” because of her red hair. Barbara had a country life for the younger years, growing up in South Grayson County. She went to grade school in Dorchester, Texas. She started high school in Sherman, Texas where she played and lettered in Basketball. She moved with her family to Gainesville, Texas in 1955. She graduated Gainesville High School in 1957.
Barbara had a very blessed life which included owning a porcelain doll shop where she made many friends who came and visited the shop.
Barbara loved First Baptist Church especially Bible study, her favorite place to go.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Cecil Lee Head and Lola Fay (Cato) Head, her husband Layton Kitterman, her older brothers; C.L. Head Jr., E.W. “Bud” Head and Arnold Head and her older sister Dorothy (Head) Nash. She is survived by her younger sister Robbie (Head) Cunningham her best ever caregiver. Barbara is also survived by seven nieces and nephews which are serving as honorary pallbearers.
Through it all she learned to love the Lord! Yes, through it all!
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, Texas with Dr. Jeff Langley and Associate Pastor Daniel Jones officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery of Woodbine, Texas.
