Billye Grundy Nichols

Billye Delane (Grundy) Nichols, affectionately known as “Nannie” by the many that loved her, passed away April 30, 2026 in Allen, TX.

Billye was born July 7, 1942 in Gainesville, TX. She attended Gainesville schools and married Jerl Wayne Nichols on January 18, 1958 in Oklahoma. Mrs. Nichols was a kind and generous homemaker who cared for the following three generations of her family. Her favorite shows were “Mom” and “Reba”, and she enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Predeceased by: father William “Bill” Grundy; mother Mildred “Mo” (Agee) Bates; stepfather James Bates; husband Jerl Nichols; daughter Sherry Blakeney; granddaughter Harper Butler; and sister Patsy Ownbey.

Survived by: son Darrell Nichols (Vanessa) of Greenville; daughter Carrie Armstrong of Princeton; son-in-law Aubrey Bakney of Dixon; grandchildren: Charles Butler Jr., Meleah Butler, Christopher Rodriguez, Elisha Rodriguez, and Rachel Conley; 14 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at New Hope Cemetery, Mountain Springs.
