Bobbie Gene Lemons

Bobbie Gene Lemons, 92, of Gainesville, Texas passed away February 11, 2026 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas. He was born on February 16, 1933 in Tioga, Texas to the late Eulace Earnest and Fannie Allene (Cason) Lemons. He married Parthenia (Tena) Huffhines March 20, 1953 in Durant, Oklahoma and they celebrated more than 65 years together.

He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 in Anchorage, Alaska. Up until the day before his death, he still relished telling stories of “watching the Russians”.

He owned and operated Lemons Texaco and Bob Lemons Towing Service in Gainesville for 46 years. “Wrecker Bob” was the hero and rescuer of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and countless area residents. No matter the time of day or night or the weather, more dependable than the mail service, they always knew Bob (Papaw) Lemons Towing Service would be there to save the day.

Bobbie is survived by a son Ronnie Lemons of Gainesville; daughter Michele Scheibel and husband Tracy Scheibel of Southlake and daughter Sherry Westbrook of Gainesville; grandchildren Brad Shuflin, Ryan Shuflin, Chad Simpson, Kelli Murray and wife Jaymee Murray; great grandchildren Colton Simpson, Madison Simpson, Hunter Shuflin, Grayden Shuflin and Wyatt Shuflin; sister Joyce Shurbet of Thackerville and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Tena Lemons, brother Kenneth Lemons, son-in-law Dale Westbrook, great granddaughter Maycee Simpson and brother-in-law Mac Shurbet.

The family will receive friends at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Memorial services to follow beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating.
