Casey Lorelle Mason, age 50, passed away on January 8, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on April 30, 1975, in Gainesville, Texas, to Dave and Marsha Griggs.
On July 17, 2004, Casey married the love of her life, Mark Mason, and together they built a home grounded in devotion, laughter, and unwavering family bonds. She became a mother on May 25, 1999, with the birth of her son, Trevor, a role she cherished with her whole heart.
Casey dedicated her life to education and to the children she served. She began her teaching career at Gainesville Junior High, later spent several years at Krum Intermediate, and ultimately found her calling teaching fourth grade at Era ISD. Her compassion, patience, and genuine love for children made her a favorite among students and colleagues alike, leaving a legacy that will be felt for generations.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in English literature and a Master’s degree in Education from Texas Woman’s University. Casey was also a certified principal, but health challenges prevented her from pursuing administration work, her passion for learning and commitment to her students never faded.
Outside the classroom, Casey embraced the simple joys of life. She loved playing games, shopping— especially on Amazon, where she proudly held the title of “coupon queen”—and expressing her creativity through scrapbooking, photo albums, cooking, baking, and decorating her home. An avid reader with a deep appreciation for literature and fiction, she often found comfort and delight within the pages of a good book.
Casey will be remembered for her kind heart, her creativity, her love of learning, and her steadfast devotion to her family and her God. A true believer, she was a member of Saddle Creek Cowboy Church. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the memories she so lovingly created.
She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Mark Mason; her son, Trevor Wagley, and his wife, Alyssa; her newborn grandson, Griggs Elliott Wagley; her mother, Marsha Griggs; and her mother-in-law, Margaret Polk. She is also survived by her sister, Katey Sanders, husband Royce, and niece Micalea; her aunts and uncles, Suzanne and Carroll Barnett, Guy and Patsy Griggs, Linda and Jim Gillis, and Barbara Sewell; her nephew, Jonathan Reed; and numerous cousins from the Griggs, Boothe, Reed, Inglish, Breeden, and Barnes families.
Casey was preceded in death by her father, Frank Dave Griggs; father-in-law, Bill Polk; maternal grandmother, Patsy Hardin; grandparents Rube and Maurine Griggs and J.W. and Lorene Cash; uncle Johnny L. Reed; and other beloved family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Era Baptist Church, 100 Bolivar Road, Era, TX 76238. A private family graveside service will follow at Rosston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a favorite cause or organization in Casey’s memory.
