Cathy Lloyd

September 20, 1957 — March 29, 2026

Cathy Lloyd was, above all else, a devoted mother, a loving sister, and a loyal friend. She passed quietly on March 29, 2026, leaving behind a silence her family is still learning to fill.

Born on September 20, 1957, in Houston, Texas, to Jack and Frances Groce, Cathy lived in Gainesville, TX — a place as much a part of her as her laugh. She was the apple of her daddy's eye, and those who knew Jack recognized him immediately in her: her stubbornness, her warmth, her willingness to give everything she had.

As the eldest daughter, Cathy set the tone for her family — fiercely protective, unapologetically loving, and always the first to pull someone into her tribe and make them feel like they'd always belonged there. She loved hard, played hard, and worked hard, and she never did any of those things halfway.

Cathy faced two battles with cancer with the same grace and grit she brought to everything else in her life. She did not slow down. She did not quiet down. And she did not go gently.

Her life was not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body — but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of dust, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow! What a ride!"

She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her genuine smile, her love of a good party, and the love she gave away so freely to everyone lucky enough to know her.

Cathy is survived by her children, Brady Green; Colby Green and wife Denise; Bailey Green; and Kiley Edington and husband Josey. She is also survived by her siblings Carrie McGehee, Grace Weatherly, and Jared Groce, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. To her precious grandchildren — Tayton McKenzie, Cameron Childress, Benjamin Green, Emma Green, Hannah Green, McKinna Green, Hayden Meyers, Kyndel Green, Kinsley Nance, Jaxi Nance, Lillian Edington, and Elzie Edington — she was simply "Honey." She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Michael Green, Marcus Avila, and Mathias Avila.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donny Lloyd, and her parents, Jack and Frances Groce.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 6 at 6:00 PM at the White Hawk Ranch, 245 CR 285, Gainesville, TX.

What a ride, indeed.
