Connie White of Lake Kiowa, Texas, was born February 21, 1926, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 3, 2019.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, 602 Lindsay Street in Gainesville, Texas, 76240.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 2:00 pm in the Abbey Chapel at Rose Hill Cemetery located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at 6001 N.W. Grand Blvd., 73118.
Interment will be held following the funeral service, located in the “Garden of Devotion”, Lot 63, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
Connie was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1944. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and married Albert LeRoy (Lee) Christy, Jr., on June 21, 1945.
After 4 children, Connie worked in the medical field as a Doctor’s Receptionist in Podiatry and later for a doctor in General Practice, both in Oklahoma City. While she and her husband were living in Memphis, Tennessee, she was a Church Secretary, retiring in 1986. As a teenager during the summer, she worked in her Dad’s office where he served as Secretary/Treasurer at the National Stockyards Company in Oklahoma City.
Connie was a member of Lake Kiowa Chapel since 1992 and on the board as Secretary and Treasurer. She sang in the Chapel Choir until retiring from singing at the age of 85. She also belonged to Gourmet Club, Bridge Club, Garden Club, a volunteer for the Christmas Tour of Homes, and was Chairman of Bird & Nature. After moving to Lake Kiowa in 1992, she and her husband moved their membership from Treisch Methodist Church in Lewisville, Texas, to Whaley United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Texas. Connie also belonged to the Kiowa Woman’s Golf association and played 9-hole golf. Her husband, Lee, while living in Albuquerque, was New Mexico’s Amateur Golf Champion. In Albuquerque, he and his Dad owned Christy Buick auto dealership.
Connie’s husband, Lee, died on October 3, 1996, after 51 years of marriage. Six years later, on March 9, 2002, she married Charles H. White. He died in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lota Pallady Deming-Rader, step-father, J. B. Rader; son, Bobby Christy, and a step-son, Kevin White.
She is survived by two daughters, Jan Arroyo and son-in-law Dean from East Texas; Linda Hill and son-in-law David from Flower Mound; one son, Lee Christy and daughter-in-law Lornetta from Oklahoma City, daughter-in-law, late son’s wife, Jana Christy from Aubrey, one step-son, Kirby White from Dallas, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
