Dale Ray Alexander, age 71, of Lindsay, TX, passed away peacefully on August 30, at Medical City Fort Worth, surrounded by his loved ones. Dale Ray was born the first of four children to Dale and Dorothy (Arnold) Alexander in Gainesville, TX, on August 26, 1955. He graduated from Gainesville High School and from there served in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1976.

After returning from military service, he began working at Linda Jo Shoe Company alongside his father, repairing and maintaining machinery. He continued to build a career in maintenance and electrical work, eventually spending more than two decades installing and servicing security alarm systems.

He married Natalie Block on August 9, 1980, in Lindsay, TX. They spent 46 years of marriage building a life together. They shared a love of riding Dale Ray’s Harley and treasured the trips they took together. Most of all, they cherished spending time with their children and grandchildren, making memories together and enjoying the simple moments that meant so much.

Dale Ray was a “Mr. Fix-It” and could find a solution on repairing, mending, patching, restoring, or correcting anything you gave him. He was a great cook, making the best chili around, and he never missed a chance to cook for his family on his smoker.

He was also a gun enthusiast and expert marksman. He could out-shoot anyone around and never lost that talent. People from far and near came to him with anything and everything about guns and ammo questions, and he knew the answer. A good day for him was going to target practice with his buddies. After he retired, he took such pride in mowing his yard, manicured to perfection.

Most of all, his best times were spent with his two girls and five grandchildren. He loved them all so much and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Going to ball games, picking them up from school, fishing escapades, and giving them ice cream and candy for their supper were just a few of many of his most treasured moments with them. Sitting in their “spot” on Papa’s lap was always his grandkids favorite place to be.

He is survived by his wife, Natalie; daughters, Melissa (Bradley) Ice of Lindsay, TX, and Kristen (Garrett) Alfrey of Round Rock, TX; grandchildren, Braxten Ice, Jolie Ice, Easton Ice, Ava Alfrey, and Ashlynn Alfrey; sister, Deanna (John) Bryan of Whitesboro, TX; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Annette and Bill Bayer of Muenster, TX, Kevin and Brenda Block of Lindsay, TX, Tic and Sonya Block of Lindsay, TX, Tim Block of Gainesville, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David and Don Alexander.

Rosary will be held Thursday, September 3, at George J. Carroll Funeral Home at 6:00 PM, with visitation to follow from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 4, at St. Peter’s Church in Lindsay, TX, at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
