Gainesville, Texas

Daniel “Danny” Wayne Turbeville, 71, passed away on April 30, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories rooted in family, the outdoors, and the simple joys of life. Born on February 23, 1955, to Clarence “Turby” Smith Turbeville and Lillian Marie Rivoire Turbeville; Danny was the youngest of three sons and grew up surrounded by adventure and strong family ties.

From an early age, Danny could be found at his father’s Bomber Bait fishing lure company or at the Gainesville Boat Club on Lake Texoma. Whether fishing, skiing, riding motorcycles, go-karts, or dune buggies with his brothers.

A natural athlete, Danny earned the Fighting Leopard Award at Gainesville High School and was named First Team All-District Middle Linebacker. Other sports he enjoyed were tennis, golf, and jogging. Following graduation, Danny began his career with BNSF Railroad, where he quickly attended engineer school and was hired as an engineer. He retired after 26 years of service in a profession he truly loved.

One of Danny's greatest joys was camping and turkey hunting on the Red River, introducing his son, Jarred, and nephew, Brooks, at a young age that created lifelong memories on the Red and they still enjoy it to this day.

Many great times were had at Leeper Lake where he had a cabin that the Turbeville family often gathered for duck hunts, bass fishing, hog hunting, cookouts, and enjoying the outdoors.

Danny’s greatest pride and joy were his three sons that shared with them his love of fishing, boating, tubing, camping, hunting and creating countless cherished memories. He also took pride in training his Labrador retrievers. Danny had plenty of Labradors but no dog stuck out more than his greatest Jack Russell companion, Festus, who was his best friend for 18 years.

He also had a deep love for music, especially The Beatles, whose albums he collected throughout his life. He also was a big fan of the boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

He is survived by his sons, Jarred Daniel Turbeville, Jordan Davis Turbeville, and Jace Crockett Turbeville and his wife, Meagan; his grandsons, Carter Jace Turbeville and John Carter Turbeville; his brother, Randy Turbeville and wife Debbie; his nephews, Brooks Turbeville and wife Molly, Dusty Turbeville, and Scott Turbeville and wife Carrie; his niece, Tara Turbeville Haverkamp and husband Zach; along with many beloved cousins from the Rivoire family and numerous dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mike Turbeville; his nephew, Joe Turbeville; his niece, Carissa Berry Taylor; and his beloved “second mom,” Miss Eula Riggs.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers and dear friends for their compassion and support. Kayla Searcy and CJ Hart of Comfort Givers Homecare, as well as Kristen Block of First Texas Home Health Care.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of George J. Carroll Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to My Brother’s House, P.O. Box 696, Muenster, Texas 76252, or to Home Hospice.
