Danny Gene Wyatt, age 78, passed away January 12, 2026 in Sherman.

Danny was born November 20, 1947 in Gainesville. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1969. When Mr. Wyatt was a resident of the Fort Worth area, he was employed at Bell Helicopter. He then started his career with BNSF in the late 1970’s, retiring as a conductor. Mr. Wyatt enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family meals. He loved his family dearly and spoke of his love for his daughter often to his friends.

Predeceased by: parents Walter Monroe “Dink” Wyatt and Aline “Tootsie” (Gibson) Wyatt.

Survived by: daughter Julie Nelson and husband Bobby; grandsons Caleb Nelson and Joshua Nelson; sisters Loretta “Janie” Russell and Ardena Chokas (Terry); brother Ray Wyatt; and niece Tammy Colwell (Brad) and her children Haley and Brody.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, January 22, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.
