Danny Joe Young passed away peacefully in his home in Lindsay, Texas, on July 3, 2025.
Danny was born on May 3, 1948 in Pratt, Kansas, the oldest son of Richard Derrel Young and Bernice June Stone Young.
Danny was a proud graduate of Sylvia High School. On August 27, 1966 Danny married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Dana Lynn Withroder, in Hutchinson, Kansas. The two made their home in Kansas and welcomed two children, daughter Lisa Rene and son Michael George, before moving to Texas in 1979.
Danny’s vocation was construction, following in the steps of his father. As a construction superintendent, Danny built numerous hotels across California, Arizona, Tennessee, and Texas.
After retiring from construction, he worked at Lindsay ISD in maintenance, a job he thoroughly enjoyed because he got to see his granddaughters every day.
Danny was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was extremely proud of Lisa, Michael, and all his grandchildren. He loved being with his family, playing cards or watching sports. The births of his great grandchildren enriched his life even further. Danny’s sense of humor was legendary.
Any activity that his grandchildren were involved in was something Danny wanted to be at, from ball games to plays. He was a proud fan of the Lake Dallas Falcons, where he watched his son coach and grandsons play football.
Danny is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Dana Young, daughter Lisa Dieter and her husband Roger, of Lindsay, TX, son Michael Young and his wife Amanda, of Shady Shores, TX, grandchildren Elizabeth and Patrick Abu, Caroline and Taylor Robertson, Grace Dieter, Ella Dieter, Brett Young, Gavin Young, Ryan Young, and Hope Watts, and four great grandchildren, Cecilia, Henry, Danny, and Winnie June.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Don and Susan Young of Great Bend, KS, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Sally Young of El Dorado, KS, sister-in-law Debbie Banks of Hutchinson, KS, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Diane and Dave Scott of Hutchinson, KS, six nephews, one niece, and numerous cherished cousins.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Bernice Young, his brother-in-law Joe Banks, and nephews Bradley Young and Eric Long.
