Whitesboro

Darla Jean (Cooper) Hollandsworth, age 80, of Callisburg, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She left behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will continue to live on through all who loved her.

She was born on January 1, 1946, in Gorman, Texas, to Dee and Doris (Dot) Cooper. Darla graduated from Gainesville High School and attended the University of North Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, friend, and grandmother. Darla was a homemaker, co-owner of the family-owned Callisburg Grocery Store, and a partner in a cleaning service. She was known for her famous chocolate pie, her love of gardening, scrapbooking, and her servant’s heart, which she extended to her family, community, and church.

Darla married the love of her life, Brent Hollandsworth, on December 19, 1966. As a young wife, she followed him to Colorado Springs, Colorado, while he served in the army. In 1968, they returned to Callisburg, where they purchased the home they shared for the past 59 years. Her greatest calling and joy was her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her three daughters, creating a home filled with love, guidance, and steady faith. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life.

Darla was a member of Custer City Baptist Church, where she built lasting friendships and served faithfully. She was also an active member of the Callisburg Community Club, Cooke County Republican Women, and participated in many other community organizations and events. She enjoyed spending time with the Summer Girls of ’64 and loved traveling on various adventures with friends and family.

Darla was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Doris Cooper, and her sister, Deelores Cooper. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Brent; daughters, Kelly and husband Randell Reed, Tracy and husband Tim Chauncey, and Amberly and husband Nathan Caldwell; and brother, Butch and wife Doris Cooper. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren: Jordan (Patrick) Adams, Morgan (Corey) Roberson, Austin Caldwell, Gracie (Cole) Scribner, Madison (Seth) Weaver, Kendall (Collin) Kubecka, and Ryder Reed, along with six great-grandchildren.

Darla will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steadfast faith, and the way she made each person she knew feel cared for and valued. Her life was a beautiful example of devotion— to her family, her faith, and her community.
