We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother and friend, Darlene Evelyn (Whitlock) Emerson, whose warmth, kindness, and steadfast spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will forever be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and the countless joyful moments she shared with family and friends.

Born November 1, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, Darlene grew up surrounded by love and faith. She attended South Oak Cliff High School and later graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in Accounting. She was known for her love of family, her fondness for dogs, and her delight in shopping for the perfect treasure.

Darlene is survived by her son, Robert Emerson, and daughter-in-law, Sheri Emerson, of Valley View, TX; granddaughters Destiny Vilmont and husband Christopher of Albuquerque, NM, and Haley Emerson and fiancé Zachary Simons of New York City, NY; grandson Jacob Emerson of Valley View, TX; great-grandson Caleb Ragnar Vilmont and great-granddaughter Selene Vilmont of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her brothers Robert Wayne Whitlock of Sanger, TX, John Whitlock of Era, TX, and Chris Whitlock of Dallas, TX.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Whitlock of Dallas, TX; her mother, Elizabeth (Boerder) Whitlock of Dallas, TX; and brother Dennis Whitlock of North Richland Hills, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, AR.

Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will remain forever in the hearts of her family and those who were blessed to know her.
