Jessie Rubrecht

Edith Jessie Rubrecht, 101 years of Gainesville, TX, passed away peacefully at her home on September 14, 2026, with her family at her side. Jessie was born in Dallas, TX on December 29, 1924, to George Franklin and Lottie Hazel (Strickland) Isaacs. She was one of six children and lived most of her life in Gainesville, TX. Jessie married Robert Louis Rubrecht on February 24, 1943, in the Gainesville Courthouse. Robert reported for duty in the U.S. Army to serve in WWII the following day. Jessie worked as kitchen staff at the Officers Club at Camp Howze during part of the war. Robert and Jessie had two children, Patricia and infant Susan who has been waiting in heaven since 1948 to be rejoined with her family.

Jessie was employed at the Linda Jo Shoe Factory in Gainesville for 5 years prior to moving to Garland, TX in 1959. She was employed for ten years in the Semiconductor Division of Texas Instruments in Dallas. After returning to Gainesville, she was employed at Braum’s for five and a half years.

Jessie and Robert purchased the Rubrecht family land which had been in the family since 1895, built their home and moved back to Gainesville in 1970 where they spent the rest of their lives. To family and friends, their home through the years has always been referred to as “The Farm”. Anyone who has visited has their own colorful memories and stories to tell. If you ever sat at Jessie’s table, no one left hungry. She loved to cook, bake, tend her garden and took great pride in her canned goods produced from the many years of gardening. She was known to most everyone as “Grandma Jessie” or “Aunt Jessie” whether you were a relative or not. She was famous for her homemade cinnamon rolls and other baked goods and candies. Her Granddaughter and Great Granddaughters were the light of her life along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jessie’s second home and extended family was the Stanford House in Gainesville. She volunteered there for twenty years and continued for over 30 years to participate in weekly card games and various activities with her friends. She was extremely witty, dedicated and hardworking, had good morals and values and a willingness to help others. She was a great Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Jessie will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her Daughter Patricia Greenlee, Granddaughter Tracy King, Great Granddaughters Katie King and Jenna King, Sisters-in-law Betty Isaacs, Sarah Isaacs and Sharon Isaacs and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Robert Rubrecht, infant Daughter Susan, Brothers Thurston Bell, Ralph Isaacs, Homer D. Isaacs, Douglas Isaacs and Sister Audrey Jones.

Services are scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the family will receive friends briefly following the service. Mrs. Rubrecht will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
