Fannie Lou Lancaster, 84, of Gainesville, passed away August 21, 2021 in Gainesville.
Fannie was born October 16, 1936 in Bogue Chitto, MS. She had a full-time job as a homemaker, mother, and pastor’s wife. She was also a talented musician, beginning at age 5, playing the guitar and piano. “Miss Fannie”, as she was affectionately known, loved her church family at Southside Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and work with senior adults. She loved her family fiercely and cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by her parents, E.E. and Edna (Whittington) Brister; husband, Marvin “Brother Red” Lancaster; brother, Linsber Brister; and sister, Genieva Schmitt.
Survivors include: son, Gordon Lancaster of Denton; daughter, Cindy Martin of Denton; son, Joey Lancaster and wife, Kim of Gainesville; grandchildren: Audra Powell, Jennifer Etter, Michael Etter, Ashley Hough (Daniel), Trey Lancaster (Haley), and Trevor Lancaster; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Benita Nations of St. Louis, MO; and brother, Stanley Brister of Fort Worth.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M., officiated by Pastor Wiley Sullivan. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
