Floy Dela Woodard Poe was born October 9, 1932 in Mills County, Texas, to Lola Roberts Woodard and Jim Wesley Woodard. She married Edwin Allen Poe on June 2, 1950 in Abilene, Texas.
Floy had a soft spot for children and loved teaching preschool and elementary students about the birth and life of Christ at Sunday School. She was instrumental in starting a dictionary giving program at Waxahachie ISD and Bryan ISD elementary schools through her second passion, politics. A lifelong Republican, Floy was an active member of the Texas Federation of Republican Women while living in Waxahachie and Bryan, Texas.
Floy gave her life to Christ and lived a good and Christian life. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Waxahachie and College Station.
Floy passed from this life on February 8, 2021. She is preceded in death by husband Edwin Allen Poe, parents Jim and Lola Woodard, sister Ada Merlene Woodard Lee, and brother J. W. Woodard. She is survived by son Wyman Poe and wife Kayla, daughter Pam Sigler and husband Dennis, son Randy Poe, thirteen grandchildren and spouses, ten great grandchildren, and numerous extended family.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 21, at Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Star, Texas under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
