In Loving Memory of Garry Wiebe
June 26, 1960 – October 24, 2026
Garry Von Wiebe went home to be with his Savior, on October 24, 2026, at the age of 66.
Born in Sherman, Texas, to Garry and Lucille Galyon Wiebe, Garry was known for his impeccable work ethic, quick wit, generous heart, and ability to fix almost anything. He lived by a motto that reflected his character, “A job worth doing is worth doing right.” Garry worked as an engineer for BNSF Railway until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 58. Even as the disease changed the course of his life, it could never diminish the man he was nor the power of his ministry.
Garry married the love of his life and over those 48 years, they built a family and a home shaped by faith, love, and service. One of the facets of their ministry includes pastoring Christian Gathering Church in Valley View for 13 years. They also invested in the lives of young people and for 14 years, they opened their home to foster children—children who needed a safe place, someone to care, and somewhere to belong. Garry leaves behind many who call him dad. He was proud to provide for his family and many will remember him as a “father to the fatherless.”
He loved making people laugh, playing pranks, and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was always ready to lend a hand, repair what was broken, or share what he knew.
Garry is survived by his wife, Pamela Wiebe; his daughters and their husbands, Joda and Josiah Foster, Morgan and Chad Henderson, and Melissa and Jacob Morris; and his grandchildren, Madison, Emma, Jaycee, and Knox Foster; Kylie, Caleb, Olivia, and Corbin Morris.
He is also survived by his sister, Lynette Wiebe of Whitesboro, Texas; his brother, George Dressler, and Nora, of Sacramento, California; his mother-in-law, Connie Perry of Gainesville, Texas; and many foster children, spiritual sons and daughters, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garry and Lucille Galyon Wiebe; his sister, Lynell Stevens; his brother, James Dressler; and his Father-in-law Joe B Perry whom he treasured as a true father.
Garry’s laughter, hard work, generosity, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
The memorial service will be officiated by his brother-in-law, Arthur Green of River Alive Church in Gainesville, Texas, and Ronnie Reinhardt of Christian Gathering of Valley View, Texas. Services will be held at George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville. Visitation will be Monday, October 26 6:00-7:30 and his service is Tuesday at 2:00.
