Gladys (Donie) Bell

May 2, 1947 — Oct 29, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Gladys "Donie" Bell, who departed this world on October 29, 2026. Born on May 2, 1947, Donie graced this world with her vibrant spirit for 79 wonderful years.

Daughter to the late George and Elmer Boswell, Donie grew up in a family marked by love and resilience. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Johnny Bell, and her siblings Nancy, June, Billie Jean, Sam Louis, and Roy. Her daughter, Ruthann, also preceded her in death, leaving a void in the lives of those who loved her deeply.

Donie is survived by her loving son, Johnny and daughter-in-law Jeannie Bell, who carries on the family legacy with pride and affection. Her joyful spirit and laughter live on in her grandchildren: Josh, Jade, Jesse, and Jayton, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jalani, Johnny, Rhome, Arabella, and Remy. Her family was the center of her universe, and she delighted in every moment spent with them, particularly during the cherished times she spent cooking meals and sharing stories.

Donie was a woman of remarkable character and warmth. Known for her lively sense of humor, she could bring a smile to anyone's face. Despite her petite stature, her personality was larger than life. An ardent fan of Elvis Presley. Equally, she had a soft spot for Hallmark holiday movies, which she watched with great enthusiasm.

Her passing leaves a profound sense of loss among the many who loved her dearly, but her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those who knew her.

A viewing will be held for the family November 1, 2026 5:30-7:30 PM at George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

A celebration of Donie's life will be held on November 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, located at 602 Lindsay St., Gainesville, Texas 76240. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life beautifully lived.

Donie Bell's light shone brightly, and though she has departed, her spirit will forever continue to illuminate the hearts of those she touched. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
