Glenn Deryle Bewley passed away on December 17, 2025 at the age of 88. He was born in Weinert, Texas on May 14, 1937 to Glen Bewley and Emma Lucille Robeson Bewley.
On December 23, 1955, Glenn and Margaret Ann Enderby were married on the Enderby farm in her family’s home. Together, they raised their family and would live out their lives in this very same home. He was known as “Big Daddy” to all his grandchildren, an endearing term he kept the rest of his life.
Glenn retired from Union Texas Petroleum; however, he was known for his farming and ranching. Working the land and tending to livestock was his passion. He was proud to have served 14 years in the 49th Armored Division of the Texas Army National Guard. A man with many interests, during his lifetime he worked the wheat harvest from Montana back to home, entered in rodeo bull riding competitions, enjoyed hunting with his dogs, and was a skilled horseman. His community outreach centered around sports, especially football, where he volunteered his time, even coaching for the former Boys Club of Cooke County.
Glenn is survived by his daughter, Doris Ward and husband, Curtis Ward of Little Elm; son, Jackie Bewley and wife, Rosemarie Bewley of Flower Mound; son Don Bewley of Gainesville; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Lucille Bewley; and wife, Margaret Bewley.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Friday, December 19th at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, December 20th at the funeral home with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Cooke County, 315 N. Denton St. Gainesville Texas 76240.
