Gregory James Neu

Gregory James Neu, 54, passed away on October 15, 2026 at Medical City Denton, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on November 26, 1971 in Gainesville, Texas to James Albert & Sylvia Helen (Gilbert) Neu.

Gregory graduated from Gainesville High School and then went on to study Industrial Arts at Cooke County College. He worked as a self employed welder. He attended Church at Commerce Street Church of Christ. He loved collecting guns, listening to scanners, and hunting.

Gregory is survived by his mother Sylvia Neu of Gainesville, aunts; Elaine Hughes of Gainesville, Sherry Gilbert of San Antonio, Donna Deurmyer and husband Ron of OKC and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father James Neu, uncle James Gilbert, grandparents; Mary and C.E. Gilbert, Albert and Hazel Neu.

A Graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery of Gainesville, Texas on Monday, October 19, 2026 beginning at 2:00 PM with David Hughes officiating.

Pallbearers are Brad Hughes, Steve Hughes, Ron Deurmyer, David Hughes, Pat Sharp and Harold Wells.

Memorials in honor of Mr. Neu may be made to the Commerce Street Church of Christ of Gainesville, Texas or the American Cancer Society.
