Guadalupe Gonzalez

Guadalupe González Salinas, daughter of Maximino González and Anacleta Salinas, was born on July 7, 1938, in Tierra Nueva, San Luis Potosí, México. She peacefully entered eternal rest on March 31, 2026, in Gainesville, Texas.

In 1955, she married the love of her life, Alfonso Zárate, who preceded her in death in 2020. Together, they built a beautiful family and were blessed with ten children.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Lourdes Zárate, Rocío Huerta, Gerardo Zárate, Fabián Zárate, José “Pepe” Zárate, and Ivonne Zárate. She was preceded in death by four of her children: Teresita Zárate, Juan Alfonso Zárate, Teresa Zárate, and Miguel Ángel Zárate.

Guadalupe also leaves behind her cherished in-laws: Juvenal Meléndez, Beto Huerta, Melyssa Zárate, Alex Quevedo, and Sandra Rodríguez.

Her legacy continues through her thirteen grandchildren: Beatriz Zárate, Mickey Zárate, Daniela Zárate, Keisy García, Alexander Huerta, Carlos Zárate, Melanie Zárate, Diego Zárate, Emmanuel Huerta, Andrés Zárate, David Huerta, Daniel Quevedo, Michelle Zárate, and Nathalia Zárate; as well as her great-grandchildren: Leah Marie Zárate, Benjamin Zárate, Josemaría Martínez Meléndez, Mateo Lizalde, Ricardo Rivera Meléndez, Amara Martínez Meléndez, María Emilia Rivera Meléndez, Marcelo Lizalde, and William García.

For many years, Guadalupe owned a small store and operated the local post office in Tierra Nueva, México. She was a devoted mother who took great pride in her children’s lives—she actively participated in their school events and lovingly hand-sewed her daughters’ school uniforms.

In 1981, Guadalupe immigrated to the United States, where she built a life filled with love, hard work, and new experiences. She traveled to places such as New York, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Colombia, Cancún, and Mérida. She believed deeply in the importance of civic duty, especially as a woman, and proudly became a United States citizen in 2014.

Guadalupe had many passions and hobbies. She enjoyed gardening, completing word searches, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, crafting, and cooking. She embraced modern times and loved spending time on her iPad. She also enjoyed visiting stores and garage sales, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a special love for cats and pan dulce.

A true fighter, Guadalupe faced three different cancers throughout her life with incredible strength and courage. She will always be remembered as brave, kind, generous, loving, funny, strong, and beautiful.

Guadalupe was a woman of deep faith, devoted to God and the Virgin of Guadalupe. She encouraged her family to pray not only during difficult times, but also in moments of joy. She often reminded us that each of us has a guardian angel watching over us.

In her final days, she worried about not being able to see her children again, but now she is reunited with her loved ones in Heaven.

The gifts provided at her funeral service were given in her honor, reflecting her generous spirit—she never wanted anyone to leave her presence empty-handed, as gift-giving was her love language.

Guadalupe fue una mujer de profunda fe, devota a Dios y a la Virgen de Guadalupe. Siempre alentaba a su familia a orar no solo en los momentos difíciles, sino también en los momentos de alegría. A menudo nos recordaba que cada uno de nosotros tiene un angelito que nos cuida y protege- y ahora la tenemos a ella.

En sus últimos días, le preocupaba no poder volver a ver a sus hijos, pero ahora se encuentra reunida con sus seres queridos en el cielo.
