Gainesville

A celebration of life service for Howard Randall (Randy) Jones is scheduled for 3:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2026 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 2:00 PM.

Mr. Jones passed away peacefully at his home on Friday August 7th. He was born September 11, 1956 in Mesquite to Stan and Evelyn Jones.

Randy was the youngest of eight children. In 1977, he began his career in real estate and the homebuilding industry. During his successful years in sales and management for new home builders, he married his sales assistant and the love of his life, Debbie Dearman, on March 24, 1984.

In 1995, Randy and Debbie moved to Gainesville, where they began developing a diversified group of businesses. Their primary and last venture was a company called “Move-U-In; a company that unpacked, organized, and completely re-established the new homes of relocating senior executives, celebrities, and professional athletes. They recently retired the company after 25 years in business.

Mr. Jones enjoyed buying, repairing, restoring, and selling classic cars since his high school days. A man of many talents, Randy also enjoyed designing homes. Many of his designs were built for clients in the Gainesville area. Other interests include buying, leasing, and selling commercial properties. Partnering with a local attorney, they formed a company called Gaintex, LLC. The company bought, refurbished, and lease or sold several commercial properties in downtown Gainesville. Their last property was the old Tyler & Simpson warehouse on California Street. The property was sold after extensive interior, and exterior renovations had been completed.

Randy was known throughout the town as the go-to-guy if you wanted to buy or sell automobiles of any kind, needed hard-to-find items, wanted to plan an event, build a chicken house, or a dozen other endeavors. Whatever need you might have, Randy was more than happy to donate his expertise, skills, and time to help out.

Mr. Jones’ community involvement included serving on the Friends of Fairview Cemetery Board, Secretary of the Gainesville Economic Development Corporation, and a two-year stint as city councilman; all of which benefited greatly from his innovation, his initiatives, and his unparalleled work ethic.

Randy was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Jones is survived by his wife, Debbie, three sisters, one daughter, two grandchildren, and five (soon to be six), great-grandchildren.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Roy White, Andy Bentley, Nate Rider, Tony Brown, Tony Hill, And BJ Brewer.

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County in Randy’s honor.
