James Walter Westbrook, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born on October 18, 1934, in Sandusky, Texas. He went peacefully home to our Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of December 30, 2025, after visiting with family and friends.
Jimmy married Emma Kathleen “Bobbie” Price on March 24, 1951, in Archer City, at the ripe old ages of 16 and 15. During their marriage of 58 years, they were blessed with three children—Larry, Mark, and Patti. James and Bobbie built their lifelong family home shortly after their marriage in the Callisburg community and remained faithful members of the Callisburg Church of Christ. Together, they started and operated Westbrook Drilling Company and Westbrook Oil & Gas. He spent many years in the oil and gas industry and was also regarded as one of the best water well drillers in the country.
Jimmy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Larry Westbrook Sr. and Velena of Whitesboro; his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Rosie Westbrook of Callisburg; his daughter and son-in-law Patti and Charlie Land of Callisburg; his sister and brother-in-law Jean and Danny Morrison; his sister Sharon Brown of Gainesville; his sister-in-law Sherry Westbrook; and his brother-in-law Glen Price of Woodbine. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many loving family and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie; his parents Ray and Bessie Westbrook; his siblings Kenneth, Howard,Doris, and Pat; and his parents-in-law John and Faye Price.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Family visitation will begin on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Callisburg Church of Christ at 9:00 a.m., with funeral services following at 10:00 a.m., officiated by grandsons James Land and Christopher Westbrook. A committal service will follow at Callisburg Cemetery, with Ben Willingham officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Callisburg Church of Christ Building Fund or the Callisburg Church of Christ Library Fund.
