Jana Carol James, 75, of Gainesville, passed away August 22, 2025 in Denton.
Jana graduated from Gainesville High School, then earned her Bachelor’s degree in accounting from UNT. Jana was the consummate homemaker who enjoyed cooking and decorating, especially for the holidays. Her love for dishes would be displayed annually at the UMW Table Tops fundraiser. Also, her landscaping and gardens were of particular importance to her. In most recent years, Jana’s attention was dedicated to her grandchildren and their sporting events. It was also her regular “day dates” with her many lifelong friends and time spent with her beloved church family that brought her much comfort. Jana was always looking for opportunities to be of service, whether it was through the Liberty Belles, Cooke County 4-H, or caring for animals. The brightness she provided to the lives around her will be missed.
